Hello Class,
This week’s discussion, were discussing the study that was done at Glenville County Health Department. It was a survey that was issued to all pregnant women at their doctors appointment to determine if they were safe at home. The administrator noticed a slight difference between old questions that were asked for several years, and she decided to change things up a little bit. Once they collected the old data, they quickly noticed that nothing was entered into the patients charts. The office undergoes many different testing, such as Creating new data, reliability of the existing survey, pilot testing. Once they determined, they noticed that Step 5, the pilot testing. They used the stability of the study, As mentioned by Perrin, K. M,2015, p111) Stability is when the results of a survey or instrument are consistent over time. You can check the stability of an instrument by giving it to an individual and then giving it to her again after a certain period; this is called the test-retest technique. They collected all data and analyses to determine the scores and check if their answers were constant or changed. All the information was valuable with this step because they could track the same answer scores from their prenatal appointment between the weeks of 25-37 weeks gestation.
This is why nothing regarding patient information should be put away without scanning it or recording it in the paper chart, or anywhere where the patient information belongs. Questions and surveys regarding the sensitive matter, like these surveys provided in the Glenville County Health Department clinic, needed to be monitored closely, maybe by a physician or an administrator. This is why people with higher authority should be in charge of sensitive information such as these types of surveys; many lives could be saved. The information is not valuable if they are going back to the information and results from the past; the story is valid only in the present time. If I were the administrator, I would still request for all this information to be scanned into all the patients charts. It is reliable information that must be kept at all times in a patients chart. No information should ever be disregard or thrown away. The data is valuable for only one reason, to help acknowledge the questions that were asked in the past, and to be able to utilize some of this questions still to help answer the survey.

The case study brought much light to a few important topics in today’s generation by providing insight into a process that will enable health care providers to be aware of rising concerns. As much as interpersonal violence is important to track, neighborhood and community safety are just as important to attain since these are environments that pregnant women spend very much time in. The reason the old survey did not work in the interest of the provider’s interest is because they were solely seeking for other answers rather than the answers right in front of them. These old surveys might not have indicated any concerns but, should be used towards all patients rather than only pregnant women. I believe more specifically the old surveys should be distributed towards younger children since this could explain some of their medical concerns. This information is still incredibly valuable since there are many health issues that arise as a result of environmental factors. After attaining all the information from old surveys, it could also serve as some vital information for a case study in the same topic area. In conclusion, surveys serve as a great way to alert staff of how a patient feels and aide them in how to improve the patient’s life.
