Question Description
Think about a time when you were particularly motivated OR unmotivated to do something (can be work or non-work). Tell us three things:
- What you needed to do
- Whether you were motivated or unmotivated to do this
- Which motivation theory do you think best explains your situation and why?
When you have submitted your response, you will then be able to see the responses from others in your discussion group.
Reminder of the motivation theories covered:
- Maslow’s need hierarchy
- Reinforcement theory (rewards/punishments)
- VIE theory
- Equity theory
- Goal-setting theory
- Self-efficacy

When others have responded, you should respond to two of your peers for full credit. Here’s what I want you to do for the responses:
- Indicate whether you agree with that choice of theory or not (be polite of course) AND
- Identify if there is another theory that you think could also apply OR
- Connect their description to one of the themes at the end of the module (beliefs, feedback, rational/irrational).
So, everyone should do (1) and then choose from either (2) or (3) for each of their peer replies.
