Question Description
Hello, I have some work to do. I will explain everything below. Also, I need number 5 to be done in 24 hours from the time starting. and I need number 2 to be done in 48 hours.
I also need a rough draft for the essay in 3 days from today.
Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.
FIRST: Read (Peter Pan BY J.M. Barrie) and (Island of the Aunts BY Eva Ibbotson)

SECOND:
Choose one of the following quotes from the end of Island of the Aunts and in 250-500 words, explain its significance to both the end of the text and the narrative as a whole. (and I promise we’ll be done with quote-themed activities for a bit, haha)
“But Herbert stood firm. He had sensed the change in the sea and knew what would happen to the ocean if the kraken’s son perished. Even the children did not matter compared to that” (239)
“‘I can’t, they heard poor Queenie say. ‘I haven’t the heart.’
But Herbert was firm: ‘I’m afraid you must'” (242)
“‘I’m a kraken,’ he repeated obediently. ‘A kraken is what I am'” (246)
“Boris meanwhile had opened up the latch.
‘Out,’ he said. ‘Up! Only the peoples.’
One by one, they came out. Fabio, Minette, the aunts…Herbert” (251)
“The courtroom was very dark and very old. The judge sat high above everyone else like Godm and below him were men…” (265)
“‘And I asked Aunt Etta if there was a third place. A place that wasn’t either or or‘” (267)
“Those children who were old enough to hear about the trial began to ask their parents for different bedtime stories: stories about magical aunts who came and took children away to islands where they didn’t have to go to school” (271)
“Oddly, it was not Minette but Fabio who burst into tears” (274)

My chosen term is (Father/shood)
Define your chosen term (Father/s(hood) with 4-6 clear, full sentences. Define may mean providing a more literal definition (for a vocabulary word like ideology) or it may mean providing context/background (for an author or a novel). You can root your definition in the reading it appears in (i.e., you can define Neverland by using language describing Neverland in Peter Pan), or do some light (Wikipedia) research (or both). Please ground your chosen term in our course texts if it is a broader one (i.e., Peter Pan is easy enough to connect to Peter Pan, but if youre defining mermaids you should briefly touch on where they appear in Peter Pan and in Island of the Aunts). You should cite your evidence, and please do not plagiarize–if youre paraphrasing or summarizing from a text or texts, make sure youre not lifting anything directly from the text itself. If you have any questions or want to check anything with me, just send me an email or set up an office hour call 🙂
Think of defining your term as creating a short explanation for it that would explain it to a family member who isnt in our course. What does audience mean? Whos J.M. Barrie? Well, mom, Im glad you asked!
Here is a potential format for your glossary term…
Term: Definition. Lovely words. Solid sentences. What a fun assignment this is. Heres a direct example from the text that supports my work (Last Name Page Number).

FOURTH:
I attached 2 files. one is a rubric of the essay and the second one is the prompt of the essay.
FIFTH:
After watching the Thesis Statements video (and looking into any other resources you want to), draft a potential thesis statement for your midterm paper and submit it here. It’s okay if you’re not 100% sure what you want to write about, or if you have no idea yet what you’re writing about–just look through the prompts again and begin thinking about your potential argument and what you might want to write about. The thesis you turn in for this check-in doesn’t have to end up being your thesis, or even close to what you’re writing about on your midterm, but it’s an opportunity for you to write up a thesis and have me provide feedback on form, structure, content, etc.
Thank you.
