Requirements: In this assignment, you will write a historical narrative that answers this question: How will specialists in [my specialization] in the field of [my major] build on past achievements to become an essential part of efforts to rebuild from the COVID-19 pandemic?
As a narrative, your essay should be organized primarily in chronological order, with roughly half of your essay set before COVID-19, and the other half set after the major disruptions caused by the pandemic. For your discussion of the period before the pandemic, focus in particular on the influence of information technology (such as computers and networks, digitalization, and the internet) on your field. For those of you who are majoring in a field within information technology, identify the problems that led to the creation of your specialization as a way to find solutions. For example, cybersecurity has arisen because of the growth in cybercrime and the increasingly sensitive data that is transmitted electronically.
Before the final draft is due, you will be required to write two entries for an annotated bibliography. The first one will be due on Wednesday, and it should focus on the influence of information technology on your specialization (or the creation of your specialization in information technology) before COVID-19. The second one will be due on Friday, and it should focus on how practitioners in your specialization have responded to conditions created by the pandemic.
