Scenario Planning for Amazon

Exercise: Discuss what Amazon will experience, taking into consideration the changes that may occur in the general environment (economic,

globalization, political/legislative, technology, demographics and sociocultural factors) and Amazon business environment (suppliers,

competitors, especially Alibaba; customers, senior management and employees).

Instructions: Post your 750 to 1000 word initial response to the following questions:

Questions:

1. Identify three business scenarios that might play out in the next five years (for example: most desirable case, most likely case and least

desirable case).

2. For each scenario, assess Amazon’s readiness. What are the challenges faced under each scenario? Identify human resource strengths

and weaknesses in relation to these challenges.

3. For each scenario, identify human resource initiatives and programs that must be undertaken to deal with these changes.
