De Anza College Film Screening Journal Entry
Question Description
Reading/Film Screening Journal Entry (8 points)
Keep a weekly informal journal of your textbook readings, the lecture and film screenings, which will help reinforce the material and prepare you for the Quiz and Midterm. You may use any format: type and submit a PDF or write on lined paper (you will need to photograph or scan and then upload handwritten journal entries).
The journal entries should cover each of the instructional weeks of class—at least 5 pages by the Midterm.
What should you write about? Note some of the most significant things that you learned in the assigned reading and lecture for each week, and most importantly, the key elements of the content and/or techniques of the film(s) streamed. Don’t worry about margins, font size or formatting. Whatever works for you, works for me.
- Label your journal entries WEEK 1, WEEK 2, WEEK 3, WEEK 4 and WEEK 5.
- Write a minimum of one page each week (8 points/week; 40 points total for the first half of the course).
- Write about, question or connect to other ideas/experiences you have. The journal is a way of recording and deepening your thoughts while reading/streaming films.
- Screenshots of my lecture slides and/or PDFs as Journal pages are unacceptable and will result in 0 points for that week.
- PLEASE SEE THE RUBRIC POSTED ON WEEK 6: SUBMIT Reading/Film Screening Journal for WEEKS 1-5.
- After completing each weekly journal entry, go to “Discussions.”
- UPLOAD YOUR FIVE (5) WEEKLY ENTRIES AS ONE PDF FILE ON THE WEEK 6 MODULE BY SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1.
