Discussion 1:

In this week’s discussion board, you will be analyzing your readings on transracial and transnational adoptions drawing on all three chapters and the videos in the lecture. Some research reflects the desire of adoptive parents to adopt a colorblind parenting style and deemphasize race when adopting outside their own race. What evidence from this week’s readings can you use to argue that this is not beneficial to the adopted child? Please create a specific argument, support it with specific facts and citations from our readings, and make a clear case for why this is problematic. Use one example to support your argument.

Discussion 2:

Drawing on the readings and the documentary please answer the following question in 3-4 paragraphs: “Do you think that advertising and entertainment companies should be held accountable for how they target children?” In your response please using the following to justify your answer: 1) One concept from the readings for this week, 2) Two examples from the documentary, and 3) A discussion of how your answer impacts childhood. In other words if you agree, how do you think this decisions impacts children and vice verse if you disagree how does this impact children.
