Miami University Child Protective Services Data Breached Presentation

Question Description

Choose Trust, Safety or Reliability Overview

For this assignment, each student will create a presentation, much like the instructor lecture in the first module. Your presentation will be shared with other students in this module and peer reviewed by these students. You will submit a .mp4 video. There are two parts to the creation of your presentation.

Instructions

  1. You will create a slide presentation using Google slides, PowerPoint, Prezi or a presentation software of your choice. The presentation must have 3 to no more than 5 slides. See below for what your presentation should contain.
  2. Once you have created your slides, you must “present” your assignment. Using a screen recorder, create a video recording of your presentations. Have your presentation ready to go in Slide Show view (PowerPoint), View Present (Google Slides). Your objective is to elaborate on the points that are contained on the slide as you click through your presentation. Please DO NOT just read the slides. Your entire presentation should not be longer than 5-7 minutes. There are many screen recorders but a very easy and free one is Screencast-O-matic (????????). Here is a very short video introduction of using Screencast-O-matic. I recommend that you create a transcript that you can read from as you make your presentation. Don’t worry about making it perfect. Presentation Content:

1. Research and choose an article on one of three categories about computer systems (or software/apps): trust, safety, or reliability. For example, your article could be about (but not limited to this list):

Computer/software preventing a tragedy/mistake

Computer/software finding an error

Computer/software providing a warning

Computer/software finding a previously unknown medical condition (doesn’t have to be restricted to only medical)

Computer error

Computer glitch

Software error

Phishing

Hackers (those whose intent is to do harm OR whose intent is to find flaws so that they can be fixed)

Malware (all the different types)

Electronic voting

Online voting

Example of a computer/human error:

Search on tech sites, technology news sites and not just generally on Google. Try the major network sites tech pages (such as ABC, NBC, MSNBC, etc), ZDNet, TechWeb, NYTimes technology, Forbes.com technology, etc. I am sure you know some also.

2. Create a slide presentation explaining the article you found. Be certain to include the link to the article in your presentation. One slide should be a brief explanation (summary: what happened), one-two slides should be an ethical analysis using at least one of the ethical theories we covered in this class, the third slide should be the affect or consequence on your view. Example: Will you change your behavior as a result of reading this article? Will you be more careful? Are you more aware? Did you learn something new?

3. Submit 1 .mp4 file.

4. When available complete 3 peer reviews.
