CUNY Lehman College Diversity Equity and Inclusion Conference Memorandum
Question Description
Our assignment for this week/module is to design/propose a one-day conference on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The conference can be for the general student population, the campus as a whole, or some subset of same. It could also be meant for both some/all of the SFC community and others from a a particular group or community or organization. In any case, you should specify this, along with the number of people you would like/expect to attend.
3. Give the conference a title and a paragraph summary: overview, purpose, context, An additional paragraph re: overview of logistics, caveats, suggestions re: preparation (questions to consider, something to read or watch, e.g.) and what to expect might also make sense.
4. Lay out clearly, in succinct detail, what will take place: speakers, panels, workshops, activities, events. Some or all of these could be exclusive, i.e. on scheduled at a particular time and for everybody; some or all of these could be breakout options, i.e. two or three or even more, choices during a particular time period.
5. You can format this as a formal business letter, a memo, or a report. Choose whichever seems best to you. This should and can be a somewhat longer assignment, 2-3 pages. Links for formatting letters, memos, and reports can be found in previous modules, not to mention online. Address a particular person or entity as appropriate.
6. This is a somewhat open ended assignment, intentionally so. Many of life’s “assignments,” whether in the workplace or elsewhere, are open ended, for better and worse. It’s important to be able to follow exact instructions to a T, but also important to be able to create that T, with some guidance, on your own.
