Identity a situation in on which somebody is being interviewed as an applicant: college admissions, job opportunity, small business loan, etc. Be clear what the situation is. Propose an original, creative question, one that is not generally asked but should be. State the question. Explain why you chose this question. Give some sense of what you, the interviewer, would be looking for in an answer. This assignment can take the form of a business letter addressed to a particular group or person OR a memo (ditto), and should/can be brief, three or so sentences should do it.

Write a post-election letter to a particular community, St. Francis College or otherwise, with the intention of avoiding any issues and/or bringing community together in this highly partisan age and moment. Letter should be one page max.

Write a paragraph/section to add to the policy re: symbolic public representation of “political” views. This assignment comes from a situation at the public high school where my wife teaches re: some issues involving bumperstickers, masks, etc. Think about: Black Lives Matter, Blue Lives Matter, All Lives Matter; Trump, Biden, Vote!; anything, really, that would be expressing support for or against particular “political” positions or entities. Very important to define terms as necessary. What’s okay? What’s not okay? These things should not be too specific; you want the policy to work not just for current state of things but in the future, i.e. unforeseen particulars. Present this as a proposal memo address to Jennifer Lancaster at SFC (don’t forget to use her proper title). Write a couple additional sentences explaining your reasoning, your emphasis, etc. Include a sentence (or two) discussing how this policy might apply similarly or differently to faculty and staff.
