Assignment

The purpose of this paper is to prepare you for life after field. How do we integrate what we learn in the classroom (theory) to what we do in the field (practice)? For this assignment, you will demonstrate your comprehension of the CSWE social work competencies. Drawing upon your experience in the field or your social interactions with people, you will write a paper addressing 8 of the practice behaviors listed.

For your midterm paper you chose a social issue. Using that social issue imagine how you would interact with a client that is currently living through this social issue. For those currently in the field you can use your internship/clients as an example. For those who are not in the field imagine what it would be like to work with this group of people. Pick 8 of the practice behaviors and demonstrate how you have or would use them with clients.

For each of the 8 practice behaviors you choose, you will write up 1-page that includes the following:

1.Identify and define the practice behavior in your own words;

2.Identify one example from your field practicum or a population affected by your social issue (Task, activity, assignment, or interaction) that illustrates how you or would integrate knowledge, values or skills in this area. Your example should demonstrate evidence (e.g., client contact, administrative tasks, meetings, telephone work) to support your use of the concept or skill in your practice work.

3.Explain the importance of this example for you and your development as a professional generalist social worker.

4.Reference concepts from the course readings (Garthwait and Corey & Corey) to discuss your examples.

The final paper should be no more than 10, double-spaced pages (12-point font), using APA Style (6^th Ed.) citation format. Your paper must include a title page and reference page, which are NOT included in the 10-page limit.
