Question Description

INSTRUCTIONS BELOW

Students will earn five points if all the assignment guidelines are thoroughly followed and thoughtful answers and in-depth analysis are provided.

Points will be deducted if any of the aforementioned criteria is not met and for writing errors (you are expected to write at an advanced college level).

Guidelines:

Finish reading Ch. 8 of the Bigner and Gerhardt book and listening to the recorded lecture before you work on this paper.

The paper will be 11/2 to 2 double spaced pages using 12-point Times New Roman Font.

Use one-inch margins.

Do not align the right margin.

Title and reference pages are not needed.

Address the three sets of questions in your assignment and number your answers:

1.Did your parent(s) raise you based on your developmental abilities in physical, cognitive, and/or psychosocial domains when you were about five or six?

Provide one or two specific examples whether your answer is yes or no.

Support your discussion with some course knowledge by paraphrasing or quoting some Bigner and Gerhardt text. Reference pages 170-85 for preschoolers’ developmental landmarks and parenting behaviors.

2.Briefly describe a behavioral problem of a child aged between four to six years old. This needs to be something you have actually observed or it can be something you experienced when you were during that age range.

A.How did the parent handle the problem?

B.Do you think it was handled appropriately or not?

C.Explain why positive methods of guidance work better with young children.

D.Support your discussion with some course knowledge by paraphrasing or quoting Bigner and Gerhardt text. Reference pages 177-78 and pages 185-89 (or anywhere in Ch. 8) for preschoolers’ behavioral problems and parenting tips.

3.What are the implications for the family when an employer provides childcare as an employee benefit, for free or for half price? (This means when the family has a child/children and at least one parent is working, their child is in the program provided by the employer/company.)

Review pages 189-93 of the text so you have some background knowledge before coming up your answers. Paraphrase or quote some text to support your discussion.

Students need to reference and cite the textbook for each question. Cite the text using APA style (Bigner & Gerhardt, 2014, p. –). Page number is needed in a citation when you quote.

Searching for references from the Internet is optional, but make sure you cite the Internet sources, if you use any, to avoid plagiarism.
