- Is the “American Dream” real? Assess the relevance of Merton’s notion of the American Dream in the 21st century. Do you think that young people still subscribe to a vision of success based upon materialism?
- Which is more important in American society, money or status? Does gender play a role in which one is considered more important? Which theorist best explains your answer.
- Include your own overall question that you had about the readings.
