Introduce the Task

Now that you have your article, read it carefully and identify the key pieces of information or three key considerations in the process of decision making. Compare the list from the article to your initial list. Write a one-two page summary of the article regarding decision making and how the modern healthcare manager can benefit from the learning in the article. Objectives

The goal is not to just reiterate the article but to observe and evaluate your initial thoughts versus those of the article. Did you learn something new? Were any of your thoughts valid? Is there something that the article pointed out that you would not have thought of prior to reading the article? The key here is not to just re-state facts. Think deeply to identify those areas that are critically important regarding decision making. After all, you will need to develop this skill of decision making to be an effective healthcare manager yourself.

Here is an example of the insight a student gained from their selected article. ” In reading the article on the importance of delegation, the author highlights how those who successfully delegate increase their chances for future promotion. This fact is lost on many managers as they often fall into the trap of trying to do everything on their own.” This shows that the student has absorbed a new thought or process around the concept of delegation. Deliverables
