Just What ARE the Four Fundamental Forces?
Non-scientists may know very little about physics, but they are aware of forces in their world and in the universe as a whole.
In this assignment, you will interview a select group of people to determine what they would identify as the four fundamental forces.
Step 1. Research
Research the state of science literacy in the global society. Note any disparities across populations and reasons the authors say science literacy is important.
Step 2. Select
Select a target audience to interview. This could be students, non-physics science teachers, or general public adults. Describe the target audience and your predictions of their responses.
Step 3. Write
Anticipate the types of clarifying questions your interviewees might ask and write them down. Develop and record responses that do not reveal the names of the accepted fundamental forces. Insist that the respondents provide four answers.
Step 4. Interview
Ask at least 10 individuals of the same population description the question, What are the four fundamental forces in our physical universe?
Step 5. Analyze
Analyze results, quantifying any patterns. Comment on reactions to the question and how you utilized clarifying statements.
Step 6. Compile
Compile your work from Steps 1-5 into an APA-formatted paper, including a title page and a references page.
