Use figurative language(simile, metaphor, etc.) and objective details(factual descriptions). This allows the reader to see the object or memory in the utmost clarity.

For example, figurative language in description looks like this: “The sunset sky looked like a glowing swirl of orange and guayaba.” 

Objective Details: Sunsets are caused by a phenomenon scientists call “scattering.”

Figurative Language: The moon looked like a smile. 

Objective: The moon tonight is a gibbous waning moon.
