Prairie State College Coronavirus Handout and Logical Fallacies Presentation
Question Description
1)Read the Logical Fallacies InfoGraphic. Find an example of three separate fallacies via the media, Internet, or personal life. For the sake of these assignments, I would like for you to find examples of fallacies being used in relation to coverage or discussions of COVID-19. Then:
- Create two slides per logical fallacy in a PowerPoint (or similar software) document.
- First, identify and define the fallacy you are discussing.
- Then, provide a thorough explanation of how the fallacy “played out.” If possible, provide a link to a video or article wk15
- Heres the link for the sample of logical fallacy that should be referenced for my logical fallacy handout
- You should choose three different logical fallacies as explained by the infographic and then find a real-life example of that fallacy occurring in the media coverage, political actions, or general population argumentation. Your PowerPoint will look like:
- This is how the slides should be put together below:
- Slide 1 – Description of the first logical fallacy in your words (from the infographic)
- Slide 2 – Your example (actual link to a video clip, ad, etc.) of the first fallacy – Provide a Caption in the title of the slide.
- Slide 3 – Description of the second logical fallacy in your words (from the infographic)
- Slide 4 – Your example (actual link to a video clip, ad, etc.) of the second fallacy – Provide a Caption in the title of the slide.
- Slide 5 – Description of the first logical fallacy in your words (from the infographic)
- Slide 6 – Your example (actual link to a video clip, ad, etc.) of the third fallacy – Provide a Caption in the title of the slide.
- Please let me know if you have additional questions.
2) Put together a professional handout with action steps your audience can take if theyve been persuaded by your speech. For example, if youd like us to donate blood, please list places in the general Prairie State College area where we can donate blood. If youd like us to boycott certain companies, please list the companies we should avoid. You might also list steps we need to take to do the thing youre trying to persuade us to do (Ex. flossing our teeth).
Some things to keep in mind:
- Please make sure the handout is attractive (You could even use your new infographic skills!).
- Please ensure there are no misspellings on your handout.
- After you have put your handout together, please upload it as a discussion post in the Persuasive Speech Handouts Discussion Board, linked to in this module. This way, your audience can take action, if they choose to wk16
