(CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVES) Democratic House Representative- AZ

For a Congressional Representative consider the following questions.

a. What measures has the Representative supported? How did they vote on the House bills? What is the public policy rationale for the Representative’s position?

b. Discuss the strategic considerations behind the legislator’s position. What district interests are of concern to the legislator? What constituencies could be relied upon to support this vote? What political risks are involved?

c. How will the Representative defend his or her votes on the legislation in the 2022 re-election campaign? What accounts for the way he or she has presented this vote to constituents?

d. The need for campaign contributions is an undeniable fact of the modern Congress Member’s career. In order to stay competitive in an age of unlimited funding by outside Super PACS, Congress Members are more cognizant of the need to raise money from supporters and organized interests. As a Congress Member, you should know what industries are among your top contributors, as well as which specific PACS are among your top donors. Based on your research and understanding of the issues outlined above, why do you think these donors influence you, the Congress Member? Do these donors represent any economic interests in the district and/or the state? Does your party partially explain their support (for example, is your Congress Member supported by a PAC because they are merely conservative or liberal)?

e. Finally, spell out and explain your position toward each of the pieces of legislation listed above. Which of the legislation do you support, oppose, or are undecided about, and why?

Make sure also to state who you would like to begin negotiations with. You are required to fill out the boxes on this row and attach the spreadsheet to your post. This part will be critical to synthesizing the results from the class, and assigning you caucus partners to discuss strategy.
