Question Description
Your essay should be about four paragraphs long. You can start it with an introductory sentence introducing the essay; you dont have to write a full introductory paragraph.
Choose three specific interpreters or presenters of the past. Remember that we learn about the past through various interpreters/presenters who are coming from different backgrounds and have different motivations. Choose one example from each of these three categories:
–Pop culture (choose one movie, TV show, video game, etc.; it can be the same piece of pop culture you wrote about in your first paper)
–Archaeological site (choose a specific archaeological site anywhere in the world; it can be the site you wrote about in your second paper)
–Something else (a museum, a specific person, a government tourism office, etc.).

Describe each of these three interpreters or presenters in one paragraph (for a total of three paragraphs) and include the following information in each:
–Credentials/background is the interpreter qualified? If its a movie, for example, are historians and archaeologists involved? If its an individual person, is that person qualified to talk about the past? If its a museum, are the staff qualified to talk about the stuff in the museum?
–Motivation/agenda what is the point of this interpretation of the past? Money? Fame? Nationalism? Racism? Conversion?
–Audience who is the targeted audience (kids, adults, locals, foreigners, etc.)?
–Your critique do YOU think this interpreter/presenter of the past is VALID?
In your fourth paragraph, answer the following question:
Who is the best interpreter of the past of these three examples? Why?? Be thoughtful in your answer! that you are THINKING CRITICALLY!
