Thought Essay 3: World Development Indicators

THIS IS THE THIRD GRADED THOUGHT ESSAY

Please go to the World Bank Web page (linked below), and find out the following data for any two low income countries, and any two middle income countries for the years: 1990, 2000 and 2018. Mention the country names, and what their income level is clearly in your post.

Countries are classified (by the World Bank) as low, or middle income based on the Per Capita Real GDP.

For example, If I pick USA and Mexico, I would write: USA (High Income), Mexico (Upper Middle- Income)

Step 1:

Find out what the current definition is, and list the income level for a country to be classified as low income or middle income before you proceed. The World Bank publishes this data every year. You can do a simple google search using the following key words : “World Bank country classification income”. Then go to the World Bank page with that information and identify the current classification.

If the country you picked does not have information for 2 out of the 3 years, please pick a different country.

Step 2: Get the following data for the countries you picked.

1. Life Expectancy at Birth
2. Percentage of Population living in Poverty
3. Per Capita GDP (Current US $)
4. GDP growth rate

Step 3:

Once you have the above data, write a short summary using economic concepts for each country. You need to discuss why the country has done better off or worse off between the three decades of data you gathered. You need to use two additional indicators from the world bank database to bolster your argument.
