For this first discussion, read Chapters 1 and 2 of your text and watch the brief Connect video “Self-Concept.” In the video, three adolescent girls speak about how their friends, parents, and strangers can impact their own self-esteem.

In your initial post, introduce yourself to your classmates by describing yourself; your major/professional plans, how long you have been at SNHU, your overall interest in psychology, why you are taking this course. Then address the following questions:

• In what ways has your self-esteem been affected over the course of your life?
• What factors have played a role in influencing your own self-esteem?

Pay particular attention to your adolescent years and the influence your parents and friends had on your self-esteem. Keep in mind that self-esteem is directly related to social thinking, which is the main theme for your final project.
