Strayer Leadership & Essential Large Scale Decisions to Keep the World Moving Essay

Question Description

Assignment 3:Understanding Your Leadership Style

Due Week 7 and worth 100 points.

“…One of the first secrets to successful leadership is to learn all you can from your mentors, draw from them, but develop a leadership style that works for you. Be yourself!”

-Coach Gibbs

Introduction:

Coach Gibbs had the opportunity to learn about leadership from four significant mentors in his life. Each one of these mentors was a successful leader even though they all had different leadership styles. Remember, leadership is the art of motivating people to achieve a common goal, and your leadership style is the WAY you choose to motivate them.

Coach Gibbs believes that discovering and understanding your own leadership style starts with learning from the leaders around you and adopting the techniques that work best. Successful leaders don’t have to stick to just one style. Instead, they can change their style depending on the situation. This activity will give you an idea of YOUR leadership style(s).

Instructions:

Step 1: Take the What Sort of Leader Are You? assessment. Answer the questions honestly to help determine your leadership style(s) and give you information on the leadership skills you need to work on in the future.

Step 2: Download the Understanding Your Leadership Style Worksheet and save it to your computer. You can download it on the Assignment 3 page in Blackboard.

Step 3: Follow the instructions on the worksheet to complete the assignment.

Step 4: Save your document as FirstInitial_LastName_JGR100_ A3.
