Walden University Internet Consumption in Developing Countries Discussion
Question Description
I just need a quick paragraph posting to my colleague’s answer.
Colleague’s answer : The artifact I am working on is a song called “the story I’ll tell” I came across the song through a friend that sent me the YouTube link there wasn’t a tinge bit challenge in accessing it because I have easy access to the Internet and my monthly subscription to YouTube afforded me the ability to listen to it commercial free, whereas in a place like Nigeria (where I am from originally) the challenge to access YouTube is multi faceted; firstly, the challenge to be able to afford the data because of the associated cost consequently, the cost discourages many from being able to access streaming services . Additionally, the second and overarching challenge is power supply this is the big elephant that continues to weigh down on Africans in general. The lack of consistent power supply especially in this age seems to be a problem that is beyond the resolve of the continent same argument Juliana Rotich alluded to in her TED Talk on “meet BRCK, INTERNET Access built for Africal” she said “…and in Kenya it’s a very different reality and one thing that remains depsite the leaps in the digital revolution is the electricity problem…” this is Africa achiles’ heel.
Furthermore, in some Asia countries the type of music is not allowed due to it’s religious tone. These are countries that censor religious freedom and listening to such will be dealt with in a punitive manner such that it affects the entire family, so countries do vary in what they allow their citizens to subscribe to whereas for other countries there’s the freedom to listen to it the only challenge is that it comes at a very high financial burden to their citizens.
