Most often the media reports security and privacy breaches. Your task in this project is to keep an eye on print and electronic media to identify, analyze and evaluate real-life cybercrimes reported in media.

Over the course of the semester you should identify one real-life cybercrimes that have occurred over the past 12 months.

You should note the following for each cybercrime identified:

1. Date of occurrence of the security and privacy breaches;
2. Where it occurred;
3. Who initiated it;
4. Who/how many people/companies/governments were affected;
5. Describe the incident;
6. What security vulnerabilities were exploited by the attacker/s to cause this cybercrime;
7. What was the estimated cost of the cybercrime;
8. What (security) steps were taken since the cybercrime occurred to prevent a reoccurrence;
9. Describe any (if any) unresolved issues relating to this cybercrime;
10. What new technical information did you learn from this cybercrime.

1- Guidelines for the Project– 15% of final grade

This is an individual project, where each student should write a project report. The project will be evaluated/graded based on the following criteria:

a) Nature of content;

b) Logical flow/Organization of the report;

c) Readability/use of language/use of graphics/presentation style;

d) Originality (providing your own view and reflection);

e) Citations and references following the APA format;

2- Structure of the report

1. A table of contents;
2. Define the topic with three references from academic as well as non-academic fora;
3. Discuss the threat/attack/vulnerability/control from multiple perspectives – giving your own opinion about the topic;
4. Provide real life example of the threat/attack/vulnerability/control and give your opinion;
5. An introduction and conclusion;
6. Bibliography of references;
7. Appendices if any;
8. Report is submitted through Safe Assign on the blackboard.

3- Report Layout

1. Should not exceed three pages, excluding title page and reference list;
2. One column, 12 points, Times New Roman Font, single spacing.
3. You should submit it in Word file (.doc or .docx)
